One of My Favorite Daily Travel Sites

BootsNAll Travel is an Indie travel website. According to them, Indie Travel is “a departure from routine – an opportunity to learn, have fun, and embrace life in novel environments and cultures.”

Ok, well that sounded pretty good to me, so I signed up to receive daily emails from their site. They do a whole RTW ticket watch thing, which I haven’t found any use for as of yet, but every day they highlight different places and different aspects of Indie travel.

Starting the TEFL

The first thing we did after deciding we want to go to Thailand to teach English was look into the job situation there. From what we’ve read on various websites, getting a job in Thailand is fairly easy, but having a TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) certificate not only increase your chances but also could increase your pay. After hearing/reading this, we knew this would be a must-do.

A Piece of Advice From a Fellow Traveler

I’m sitting on a plane on my way to Phoenix for the weekend and met the most interesting guy. I came on board with my Thailand Lonely Planet book, kind of hoping someone would see it and ask me about it so that I could tell them about our trip (hey, I haven’t really been able to tell very many people and I’m so excited that all I want to do is talk about it).

Our Story

Since pretty much as long as Dave and I have known each other, we’ve been talking about traveling the world together. We met almost a year and a half ago in Chicago, where he had been living his whole life (aside from a summer in DC and a semester abroad in Australia). Not only was he ready to move on from his job as an attorney, he was also ready to move on from Chicago. He was ready for a change of scenery. He was ready for some sort of adventure.
